The "second banana" characters kidnapped the challenge and insisted
on being written about. Thanks to the writers -- whose response made this one of
the most popular challenges we've offered --  the challenge is once again free!

Do you dare?

This time, we're turning the challenge over to apocrypha readers, who sent in three very good ideas for challenges. Pick one, and write about it, same rules (see below). Thanks Gypsum, Sentinel and Jo!

1) "Write a story about a romance between two characters who, in reality - the reality that is Law & Order - would rather gouge their own eyeballs out with sharp sticks than sleep with each other" (Jack & Abbie stories here, please)."

We'll add to that one thing: You've got to give motivation here -- for the story to be believable, you need to convince your readers why this would happen between these two people, and why now.And you don't have to include a sex scene if you don't want; it could be just romance.

2) "Write a story with no dialogue."

3) "How about somehow bringing Ben Stone and Jack McCoy face to face?  In the court, in a social setting, anything, but bring the two EADA's together...."

Now, if you can find a way to combine the three, you will get a special recognition! It can be done!

You have until November 10, 2001!
5,000 words or fewer.
