My only friend, the end....
-- The Doors

We're back! Briefly.
We said we'd come back at least once more, so here we are, this (likely) last time. No tears, no sadness! Just a few more stories, and a heck of a lot of interviews (we had to come back at least for that, after all. apocrypha has definitely served us well, and, we hope, you readers, too. Law & Order was here before us, had two babies during our existence, and from what we hear, is pregnant with another. How cute!
Although we're ceasing regular publication of issues, we're still here (at least, in the cybersphere) with the apocrypha list, and of course via email, which we will still respond to. (We'll spell it out to avoid spammers: apocrypha (at) podengo (dot) com. So if you have a great story you'd like to have us look at and consider, do send it. If we get enough great stories, no one says we can't come back and do a special issue! And if you're paying attention (or on our list), you'll know it as soon as we do (or perhaps a few minutes later).
So thanks again for reading all these years. We've had fun, and we think you have, too. And keep an eye on the page. We're not a dead link ... we're just ... hibernating. Wake us up if there's something good on, willya?

Peace, love and all that stuff,

Hello --

I just wanted to drop a line of feedback and appreciation to Leslie Rampey for the story lbriscoe@newbie.org at apocrypha (I couldn't find a specific email for Rampey, I hope sending it to this email is all right!).

I really enjoyed the story -- it really captured Lenny's personality so well (and Ray's as well) and the whole situation with him using his email for the first time made great sense and really worked.  It was endearing and enjoyable, and it gave me quite a smile when I read it.

If you have anything else Law & Order-related up on the net (more fics, etc.), let me know, I'd like to check it out.

Again, good work,

Claire McC

This was absolutely ENCHANTING!!!  Yes, I know I was shouting, but I loved it. It  was fresh, inventive, had a sense of humour and a deep, abiding love for each and every Law and Order Character.  This story alone should revitalize you both into keeping APOCRYPHA running.

To the new writer:  Please keep writing.  Don't let anything or any one stop you, and don't let anyone try to change your style  or point of view.  If you write what's IN YOUR HEART, somebody will find your writing, read it and love it.  ALWAYS write what's in your  heart...

Thanx for the most enjoyable story I've read in years.

Clever premise, well written. Bravo!

PS--I've probably indulged in everything they mentioned as well!

Hi, Kitt and Kor --

In your "editor's note," you wrote:

>So we're taking a break. <<

I really was sorry to read that, and I hope indeed that this will be only a hiatus and not a demise.  As you know, I am a relative newcomer to the L&O world.  So, a lot of the things I've been able to experience over the last year have been completely delightful, and I count having discovered apocrypha among them.
I can, however, totally understand when you say:

>...this is not a one-week out of every four months
> project, this is a weekly, sometimes daily effort.
> Without assistance, we're finding it more and
> more of a challenge.

Perhaps many folks do not realize that an effort such as apocrypha does not suddenly materialize after an hour or so at the keyboard, but I really do appreciate the enormous work that goes into any publication.  And, as you say, it is something you do in addition to your jobs and lives.  Among the other reasons you give for your decision:

> While we still cheer it for being realistic...
> L&O has stagnated.... Now, the job is 15/16 and
> the life, if at all, is 1/16 of the mix, which
> makes most of the newer characters cardboard
> cutouts of their predecessors.

It is rather like watching a train wreck, isn't it?  :( Of course, it is an interesting intellectual challenge trying to figure out why this is happening.  It's as if a certain someone is attempting to see how far he can push the show into the techno-sterile -- a cynical exercise, indeed. I read somewhere that Chris Noth said that Wolf doesn't like actors -- heck, I'm beginning to wonder if he likes people.  In any case, as you say, this situation does not provide much fertile ground for fanfic.  (In my last two stories, the time-line has dictated that I use Ed.  While it's been an interesting exercise trying to get his voice right, he's still just sort of there -- mainly because someone has to be.)

>Instead, what it's created is L&O meta-fanfic,
> with this month's "Open Letter," by Cirocco Jones

That is a wonderful piece!  :)))  Even my dad who writes but is not very familiar with L&O was laughing all the way through it. Well, I guess what I've been rambling around trying to say is that I'm very sorry about the decision you've made, but I certainly can understand why you've made it.  Whatever ultimately happens, just know that you two have done high-quality work and that it is appreciated.

I think it sounds good and that it should be given a chance on TV. I think that it would get great ratings. the mix of the two shows would be great but I don't know how they'd get SD back to play Prue but I think its a great idea.

I want to read more stories about Jack and Abby. I like the thought of them as a couple. I am addicted to NC-17 rated fanfic.

Hello- my name is Amanda Forbes, and I stumbled across your home page while doing some internet research. I read the paper you wrote about "Law and Order" the conversation between Briscoe and Kincad. I thought that the paper was one to make one think, this is the last thing Briscoe will ever say to her, and all she wants is someone to listen, which he does very well. I think this is a great "alternate ending" for an episode which, under any circumstance is a sad one.

Who wants to see Claire die? She was my personal favorite. The moral of the story is that I really enjoyed the essay, and I should be more careful when I'm searching the internet for information on Puritanism. thanks again, I'll definantly be coming back to this site.

Sincerely,
Amanda Forbes

I am new to the club, but have been a long time fan of your Apocrypha site. Wonderful reading!  I was very sorry to see Kitt & Kor have scaled back on the zine, but understand the reasons .

I did find something I must ask you about. In the links section of the club there are some links I find totally out of line for Law & Order fans.  I will say I am no prude, I enjoy reading well written fanfic of any rating but these links I find are not worthy to be associated with this L&O club. Could they be removed?

Thank you for your time & good luck with the next edition

Lynn

Eds note: At the time of the writing of this email, we had not realized spammers had hijacked the links part of our Yahoo! Groups page. Those links have since been deleted. Our regular links page (look to your left) is still open, available, and accepting new links and changes. Thanks!
